I am fit. I am pretty much in good shape. I am not fat. I am busy at work. I have a family to run. I have kids. I don’t have time. The list never ends. We just find excuses not to exercise coz ultimately we are LAZY. We just don’t want to take the pain of exercising and sweating it out.
Most of us are forced to exercise only when we realize we
are down with some health complications which needs exercise or we don’t fit into our favorite clothes. Till then we don’t exercise at all .
Well ,that has been similar case with me. I stopped exercising for a year giving the same lame excuses and every month I was up by 3-4 pounds. I started to feel lazy, tired, lost self interest and motivation. In no time, I realized I have changed to this other person who doesn’t have much interest and enthusiasm in life with almost 25 pounds added to my usual weight. I started to feel uncomfortable in clothes which once was a perfect fit and was no longer the same. I lost self confidence due to my physical appearance and tried to hide behind my loose fitted clothes.
At that point I realized , its high time I started to exercise and become the old me. I also started to control my diet, I stopped snacking on fatty foods and looked for healthier options.
Once you start feeling the miracle of exercise in your life, you can never quit it . I am sure you will get addict to it, but in a good way.
Below are the few things which I experience from all these years of exercise.
1. Exercise helps to lose excess weight in the body, tone muscle and helps to fight Obesity.
2. It helps in Longetivity. A person might be able to avoid deadly diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure if he/she engages in regular physical activity. Of course, for those who have these diseases, it’s easier to manage or control them going forward if exercise is a regular part of the life.
3. Exercise boosts our immune system, which means fewer infections and you don’t fall sick often.
4.Exercise releases and relieves stress. Regular physical activity allows us to manage our life stressors more effectively. If you just had a tough day at work and need to let off some steam, go for a workout or a brisk 30-minute walk to calm yourself down.
5. Exercise improves our mood. When we exercise our body releases natural endorphin which helps to supply more energy, stabilize and even improve mood.
6. Exercise improves our self-esteem. With improving fitness begin to look and feel better. It also releases other feel-good chemicals which helps us to boost our self confidence.
7. Exercise helps us sleep better. Many people who have problems sleeping find doing moderate exercise help in relaxing and sleeping better at night. The recent Theory teaches that regular exercise could activate production of recovery hormones during sleep, increases our body’s metabolic rate and promotes fat-burning.
8. Exercise improves our circulation. Fitness may improve skin complexion through the improvement in circulation. It also helps to removes all the toxins from the body.
9. Exercise helps us manage our blood pressure. Exercise when done routinely, can boost HDL (high-density lipoprotein) – the good cholesterol – while decreasing LDL (low-density lipoprotein) – bad cholesterol. As a result, the blood flows more smoothly through the body, reducing the buildup of plaque in the arteries.
10. Exercise can be fun and relaxing! Try not sticking to the same workout routine, you will get bored. Have a variety of workouts like pilates, resistance/weight training, yoga, jogging, swimming, dancing, aerobics or any sport you like. Keep it fun and you are more likely to stick with it!!
