I know you must be wondering, how on earth can I can stay at home and get fit or lose weight? It is possible- ‘Where there is Will there is a Way!’ .
Some of my friends give reasons that they cannot make it to gym due to unpredictable schedule hours at their work, others complain they have kids at home. I understand that life gets hectic and sometimes things cannot be as organized as we expect. That doesn’t mean we skip our day to day activities like brushing our teeth, having shower, eating or sleeping.
We make sure we get time for all those activities because those are a part of the daily routine. But why is that exercising not a part of the same routine? If we notice our parents and people around us wouldn’t have allocated their time to do their exercise. But we neglected the fact that life was not modernized or things were automated like present. Centuries back ladies do their home chores manually; remember there was no washing machine, dishwasher and blender or mixer.
Earlier many people used public transportation for their commutes where walking was involved.
But in modern life things are been automated like traveling by car with AC, not using stairs at office, use phones and internet to communicate among employees. Main factor to gain more weight is eating junk food. The conclusion here is we need some exercise to stay healthy.
Most of us know the above facts but don’t realize that we need to work out.
Well, when I was working in India, life was hectic. I joined the gym, but was never able to keep up to the schedule. I calculated the time I would lose if I go to gym. More than an hour, considering the fact I might workout for only 30 minutes or so.
Steps to go to the gym
- Get ready with the workout clothes and shoes

- Fill the water bottle
- Get into the car or other vehicle
- Drive to the close by gym
- Park the vehicle and walk to gym
- Wait for our turn to use the treadmill or elliptical endurance
- Finish the workout
- Walk down to car park
- Drive back home
- Take a shower
One point of time, I stopped going to gym as I could not afford to lose 1-2 hrs on daily basis. But in few months , I started to gain pounds and then realized its time I start to workout again. So I bought an exercise DVD (Jane Fonda total body workout) which had aerobics and stretches. Most of those aerobic sessions were only 20 minutes and it fitted in my schedule and I managed to lose some weight and I spent no more than 30 minutes overall.
- Change to comfortable clothes
- Play the exercise dvd in laptop or tv
- Do your workout
- Take a shower
It is so simple and you save so much time and it is like having your personal instructor at home .You can workout any time and if you manage to get different type of workouts, it will be interesting and motivating for you workout more often. Here are some options which you can look for when you buy the dvds
- Simple Yoga
- Pilates
- Dance
- Aerobics
- Stretches
- Resistance band workouts
- Gym ball workouts
It is equally interesting and motivating. Good luck.
