I love Chicken manchurian as a starter and it used to be the must order items when I go to Chinese restaurants. But once I started to diet, I had to skip it as it was deep fried. So I started making it at home with the healthier version by Pan frying the chicken. Chicken Manchurian is good combo for fried rice or noodles or good enough as a starter.

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into 1inch square pieces

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cornflour

  • 1 beaten egg

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp soya sauce

  • salt to taste

  • olive oil

  • 2 tablespoon garlic chopped

  • 2 tablespoon ginger chopped

  • ½ onion – roughly chopped

  • ½ bell pepper- roughly chopped

  • chopped spring onions for garnish

Manchurian Sauce

  • 1 tsp rice wine Vinegar

  • 1 tsp soya sauce

  • 2 tsp tomato sauce

  • 1 tsp sugarhoney

  • 1 tsp chili sauce( optional)

  • 1 tsp red chili flakes

Directions

  1. Marinate the chicken with vinegar, soya sauce ,salt, pepper for atleast 10 mins – 1 hr.

  2. Now add the beaten egg, cornflour and all purpose flour to the marinated chicken and mix well.

  3. Heat some olive oil on a pan and pan fry the chicken till it becomes light brown on both side – 5 mins max on each side.

  4. Once all the chicken is pan fried , remove and place it on a plate.

  5. In the same pan add some olive oil and fry garlic, ginger followed by onions and bell pepper.

  6. Now add the fried chicken to the pan and stir.

  7. In a small bowl mix well all the ingredients for the manchurian sauce.

  8. Now pour this mixture on the chicken and stir fry well.

  9. Transfer this to a serving plate and garnish with spring onions.
