This is one of the dishes my hubby and some close friends of mine love. It’s a very easy and quick recipe to prepare when you don’t much ingredients at home. I have added okra in this recipe but it will be good with other water vegetables like white pumpkin, zucchini and ridge guard or just plain. This is a dish which you can rely on when you have indigestion problems.

Ingredients 1

  • 15 Lady Fingers
  • 2-3 cups  Curd
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2-3 dried red chillies
  • 7-8 Curry leaves(optional)
  • 1/4 tsp- asafetida powder(optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 tsp olive oil/gingerly oil

Ingredients 2

  • 3-4 tsp raw rice
  • 1-2 tsp Cumin Seed
  • 1/3 inch Ginger
  • 2-3 tsp coconut grated /2 small peices
  • 2-3 Green chilies (chopped)
  • 5-6 black peppercorns (optional)

Directions

  1. Wash lady’s finger and cut into medium size pieces.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan over medium flame and fry okra pieces for 5-10mins and keep it aside.
  3. Simultaneously in another pan, dry roast all the items in ingredients 2 –rice, cumin, coconut, chilies and ginger.
  4. Grind all roasted items, make sure all the ingredients are ground well.
  5. Then add some water (1/4 cup-1/2 cup) water to dilute the ground mixture and keep aside.
  6. Heat some oil in the pan and add mustard seeds, dried red chilies and curry leaves to it.
  7. When the seeds start spluttering, pour the ground mixture. (make sure  to keep stirring, so that mixture does not form lumps and  more water if needed)
  8. Once the mixture thickens, add lady’s finger ,turmeric powder and salt to the above and stir it well.
  9. In a bowl pour the curd and beat well with fork or spoon tills it smooth.
  10. Now add the hot ladyfinger mixture to the beaten curd little by little and mix well( this avoids the breaking up of curd )
  11. Now pour the entire mixed ladyfinger curd gravy back to the pan and heat it for another 5-10 mins in medium flame.
  12. It is ready to be served with rice or rotis.
