One of the first symptoms to show that we are growing old is a grey hair. Only then we realize we need to take care of it and we start applying artifical hair dyes and colors which actually makes the hair even more dry and has other side affects too. Henna is a natural dye , very good natural conditioner which strengthens and helps in controlling dandruff.
I have an easy recipe to color the hair and cover the grey hair.
Ingredients
-
100-500 grams of Henna -depending on hair length
-
1 tbsp-Amla powder(optional)
-
1 tbsp- Lime juice
-
2 tbsp-Tea powder
-
1 tbsp- Vinegar
-
Iron vessel
-
hand gloves
Procedure
-
Boil water in a vessel and add the tea powder and extract its essence into the iron vessel

-
Now add the henna, amla and lime juice and stir well into a thick paste and cover the container with plastic wrap.
-
Allow this mixture to sit for 1-2 days till top layer turns dark green, which indicates that dye has been released from henna to give good color when applied on hair.
-
Wash and dry your hair and comb it into sections. You should be wearing an old t-shirt or have a towel wrapped around your shoulders.
-
Just before applying the henna to the hair, mix well with the vinegar to get more vibrant color.
-
Work the henna into the hair and scalp, starting at the nape of the neck. You can smear it on with your gloved hand and apply it thick .
-
Continue sectioning off your hair and applying the henna. Make sure all of
your hair is thickly coated with no dry spots below the top layer. -
Wrap your entire head with plastic wrap to keep the henna warm and moist while it is processing.
-
Allow the henna to sit for two to four hours. People with hair that tends to be resistant to dye can leave it on longer.
-
Wash the henna out of your hair by rinsing as much of it out as possible with water first, and then shampooing. Conditioner helps to release the last bits of henna from the hair.
