As discussed in the earlier post about Rejuvenate yourself, I thought it would better to give a Detox diet which you can follow once in 3 months or whenever you feel appropriate.
Before discussing about what to eat, lets 1st know what foods we are supposed to avoid on the day of detox. I am sure its going to be a pretty tough task to avoid many foods for an entire day . But trust be, the after effects are awesome. Apart from shedding off a few extra pounds , you also experience an increase in your energy level , you will begin to feel more alive and charged and have a “clearer” sight towards life.
Here are the foods to avoid on detox day

Milk and milk product( yogurt, cheese)

High protein legumes like Red beans, Garbanzo , black eyes peas

Meat( fish, chicken, beef, pork)

Egg and egg products( pancakes, waffles,cakes)

Rice and wheat products
Since we have to avoid most of foods available, you might wonder what am I supposed to starve or what?
Well there is just one level in the Food pyramid which we did not include which is Fruits and Vegetables and Lots of Water.
Just like how we take a day off to clean our house or our car, we need to also give rest to our body for it to clean up the toxins.
So we have to survive for an entire day with just this. It might sound boring but sure there are many interesting recipes which you can enjoy for the entire day. Here the one which I followed.

1-1.5 litre of water with Lemon juice added to it( optional Honey)

2-3 bananas
Snacks options
-
Apple juice
-
0.5 litre water

Cut fruits
-
Cut ½ Onion, 1 celery stick, 2 carrots, few brocolli/cauliflower florets, 1 potato, few spinach/kale leaves,1 zucchini and any other vegetable in have at home .

In pan add onions followed with chopped garlic and ginger .

Add all the cut vegetables and stir

Add some chopped tomatoes

Add some water and allow to soup to boil in slow flame for 10 mins

Mix in salt and pepper according to taste. Serve in bowl and have it.

Vit C – 1 capsule
Vegetable Soup-

Frozen fruits smoothie- Blend together the frozen fruits like blueberry, apricots,strawberries with water and enjoy it.

Vegetable juice- blend together carrot/beetroot with celery / cucumber /mint . Add honey if required.

Fruit Salad
-
Vegetable Salad- Mix sprouts, onions, tomatoes, grated carrots/beets with lemon juice , salt and pepper.

Green tea with lime and honey
Before bed time

1-2 glasses of water
Side-effects of Detox:

Headaches, sore muscles, cranky moods, insomnia and the general feeling of being physically weak are common during the first few days of the detoxification process.

Another common reaction to detoxification is anxiety and restlessness. You must remember that the detoxification process has disturbed your system by extracting all pollutants in your body and this could have some temporary side effects. If you feel nervous and cranky, try taking a walk or doing some yoga exercises to calm yourself.

Frequent urination /diarrhea may occur .It is only natural that increased fluids will lead to increased urination. In some cases is an increase in bowel movements often in the form of loose stools.

Other side effects can include acne, weight loss, and hunger.
All these are normal during the detox process and with these side effects/symptoms, you can be certain that the body has started its detox and is removing the toxins .
