My hubby is not a big fan of avocados or salsa and chips. But one evening, at a friend’s place this was served as snacks and he had no other options but to give it a try. He liked it very much, in fact emptied the entire salsa. The only thing which made me a little hesitant was the deep fried tortilla chips served with this healthy salsa. So I thought baking the chips will be good idea with the store bought tortillas, but did not have the time. So I tried it in microwave and it was fast and easy.
Ingredients
- 4- corn tortillas(store bought)

- 1 –ripe avocado
- 1-tomato(chopped)
- 1-small onion(chopped)
- 2 tsp-lime/lemon juice
- ½ tsp- pepper
- ½ tsp- chilli powder
- Salt to taste
Directions
Avacado salsa
Cut the ripe avocado in half longwise and gently twist the two halves in opposite direction if you find the flesh clinging to the pit (when the avocado is ripe, the skin changes from dark green to greenish brown)- Remove the pit and scoop out the flesh inside the avocado with a spoon.
- Chop it small pieces and put in a bowl.
- Add the chopped onions and tomato to this bowl.
- Add the lime juice along with salt and pepper to this mixture. (Lime juice helps the avocado from oxidizing -turning brown).
- Its ready to be served with baked potato or tortilla chips.
Microwave tortilla chips
- Now take the store bought corn tortillas and cut it in shape of thin strips.

- Place them evenly on microwave plate(do not overcrowd the plate).
- Spray some cooking oil on the tortillas(optional).
- Set the microwave on high for a minute and remove.
- Turn the tortillas, so that both sides lose its moisture and gets crisp.
- Place it in microwave for another 30secs-1 min.
- Allow to cool for about 3-5 mins( as it cools the tortillas gets crisper).
- Sprinkle some chilli powder on the chips if you want it spicy.
- Its ready to be served with the avocado salsa.
Note: you can make the chips with flour or whole wheat tortillas.
